A concierge guide to two halls
Prince Edward Island Casino Online Desk
Island Casino Concierge is written independently of Red Shores and covers its two Prince Edward Island casinos, in Charlottetown and Summerside. Just below, a board shows which parts of each hall are open at this hour, or at any hour you pick.

Two halls, one name
Red Shores has two casinos on Prince Edward Island. Red Shores Racetrack & Casino stands at 58 Kensington Road in Charlottetown, and Red Shores at Summerside is at 55 Greenwood Drive. Both offer casino gaming, harness racing, food and drink, and lottery tickets. Atlantic Lottery operates them for the PEI Lotteries Commission, and this guide is independent of both.
Should you be choosing between them, the first difference is the gaming floor. Charlottetown has slots, a Table Games room, poker and roulette. Summerside has VLTs, or video lottery terminals, with no published slots or tables. If you prefer cards or a wheel, Charlottetown is the hall to choose.

Charlottetown: cards and racing
The Charlottetown casino has over 150 slots, from traditional reel slots to video slots. Its private Table Games room offers blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and baccarat. Ultimate Texas Hold'em is poker-based, but each player plays against the dealer rather than other players. Poker runs Thursday to Saturday, and roulette starts at 6 pm on those same three days.
Charlottetown Driving Park, founded in 1888, shares the Red Shores grounds and hosts live harness racing. Inside the Simulcast Theatre, races held at other tracks are shown daily, 11 am until midnight. O'Brien's Social Bar & Kitchen occupies the lower level. At Red's, the menu leans on Italian-inspired comfort food, and the room has a 14-foot screen, while Top of the Park looks out over the Driving Park. Each of these Charlottetown restaurants takes reservations solely by telephone, at 902-620-4264.

Summerside: VLTs and the raceway
At Red Shores at Summerside, the gaming floor holds VLTs, or video lottery terminals, and how many machines there are is not published. Red Shores publishes no slots, table games or poker for this hall. Simulcast betting follows the gaming floor's hours. Summerside Raceway was founded in 1886 and is believed to be the oldest continuously raced horse track in Canada.
Should hunger strike, the full-service casual bar and restaurant on site is West End Bar & Grill, serving daily between 11 am and 8 pm. It can be reached at 902-436-8203.

Hours in each hall
Every hour listed is local Atlantic time. Charlottetown's slots operate Sunday through Wednesday between 11 am and 1 am, and Thursday through Saturday between 11 am and 2 am. Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and baccarat open at noon on Sunday, Friday and Saturday, while from Monday to Thursday their start is 4 pm. All tables stay open until close, and the casino gives no clock time for it.
At Red Shores at Summerside, doors to the gaming floor open at 11 am each day. The closing hour shifts with the week: on Sundays to Thursdays it comes at 11 pm, and on Fridays and Saturdays it comes at 1 am. Holiday schedules appear for neither hall, so the concierge desk recommends a quick call before a holiday visit. Charlottetown answers at 902-620-4222, and Summerside answers at 902-888-5666.
Getting there from the bridge
The Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick comes ashore at Borden-Carleton. From there, Summerside is the nearer hall at 17 km in a straight line, and Charlottetown the farther at 44 km. The two halls are 54 km apart. Roads are longer than these lines, which run between town points rather than casino doors.
If you are starting elsewhere, the distance tool on this page opens a route from your town. Moncton, New Brunswick, is 84 km from Summerside and 130 km from Charlottetown; Amherst, Nova Scotia, is 71 and 95 km. Parking details and bus stops are not published for either casino.
How far to each hall?
Straight lines between OpenStreetMap town points · roads are longer
From Borden-Carleton, Summerside is the nearer hall, by 27 km in a straight line.
Age and the Rewards Club
Both halls admit guests 19 and older to their gaming floors. The Lotteries Commission Act also forbids any sale of a lottery or race ticket to a person under 19. Red Shores Rewards Club membership, which is free, is set up at the Rewards Club Desk of the Charlottetown casino. Members should bring valid government-issued photo ID.
Every $2 played on slots earns 1 point. Table points reflect the length of a session and the average bet, so the card should be handed to the dealer before play starts. Should an account show no activity for 12 consecutive months, it is deleted and its points go with it.
Online play in PEI
For online casino games in PEI, the provincially regulated route is alc.ca, run by Atlantic Lottery for the PEI Lotteries Commission. The province offers no licence or registration of any kind to private online casinos. PEI's gambling strategy for 2023 to 2028 gives offshore online operators no power to conduct and manage lottery programs on the Island. In Atlantic Lottery's view, other gambling sites may neither operate nor advertise legally anywhere in Atlantic Canada. A licence from another country leaves that position unchanged.
A note on how Island Casino Concierge is funded: each link labelled Ad points to its one private online casino partner, and none points to alc.ca. That partner pays the Island concierge desk a commission, though the desk can trade it for another partner whenever it chooses. Should an Ad link catch your eye, the points above merit a careful reading first.
Help and breaks
- Callers reach the PEI Gambling Support Line toll-free at 1-855-255-4255; calls stay confidential, and the line is staffed 24 hours each day, 7 days each week.
- PlayWise hubs at both halls offer information on healthy play, and a PlayWise Advisor answers at 902-620-4267 or playwiseredshores@alc.ca.
- Break in Play reaches both Red Shores gaming floors, with short breaks of 30 days, 60 days or 90 days and long breaks of 6 months, 12 months, 24 months or 36 months; once confirmed, a break cannot be cancelled.

How late is Charlottetown open on Saturday?
On Saturday the slots run between 11 am and 2 am. Blackjack, Ultimate Texas Hold'em and baccarat open at noon, poker follows at 4 pm and roulette at 6 pm. How old must guests be?
The gaming floors are for people 19 and older. Atlantic Lottery also requires players to be 19 or older to purchase, play or redeem its products.
